NUMISPHERE - How to Buy World Coins

NOTE: We are no longer accepting Paypal as a payment method. We can accept most major credit cards. Please see below.

Buying coins at Numisphere is really quite simple. The first step is to complete a request-for-quote form. In a request-for-quote you give us your name, e-mail address, address you want the coins shipped to, and the coins you are interested in. (You can just copy/paste the coin description and/or stock number from the catalog into the form.) We will send you back a price quote or "estimate", including shipping and handling and any applicable taxes, by e-mail - usually within 48 hours.

Although we try to keep the inventory listing on the Web up-to-date, please bear in mind that a coin indicated as available for sale may already be sold or reserved for another customer. So the quote may not include all the coins in your interest list, but may include substitute coins unless you indicate otherwise.

Once we send out the estimate, you will have 10 calendar days to accept it and submit payment. During this time, the coins detailed in the quote will be reserved for you. If you do not accept the quote and submit payment within the indicated time period, we will release the hold on the coins and they can be sold to or reserved for another customer.

Your quote may include a discount from the listed prices if you are buying a number of coins. However, we try to keep our individual coin prices very reasonable, so don't expect a huge discount. Our quote is typically the very best price we can offer you, so asking for a further discount off the quoted price is not likely to be fruitful.

You may request pictures of the coins to be sent with the quote, however because of the additional time and expense involved we can only do this for coins with a listed price of 10 USD or more. Just check the box on the request-for-quote form.

At this time, our terms are payment with order. (In other words, we do not extend credit - although we may do so in the future for our best customers. By avoiding having to write off deadbeat accounts we can keep our prices low.) We accept money orders, cashier's checks, personal checks, and most major credit cards. Money orders must be in U.S. funds, and personal checks must be in U.S. funds drawn on a U.S. bank. Orders paid by personal check will usually be held until the check has cleared. If you want to pay by credit card, let us know and we will convert the estimate to an invoice. The invoice will contain a link to a third-party payment processing site where you can enter the card information (we never see it). We do not advise sending credit card data through unencrypted e-mail.

Shipping is handled through the US Postal Service unless an alternative carrier is requested. Shipping charges are based on the USPS First Class mail rate to the destination address as indicated in the request-for-quote, plus a nominal handling charge. (Typically, 3.00 USD will cover shipping and handling for up to 5 minor coins to US addresses, foreign addresses will have a higher charge. Several crowns may also incur a higher charge due to the weight.)
Note: due to recent US Postal Service price increases, foreign shipments will incur a minimum charge of 5.00 USD. The shipping charges also include the cost of insurance for shipments valued at 50 USD or higher. We reserve the right to require registered mail or other premium mail services for high-value shipments or where mandated by Postal Service regulations. Premium mail services are quoted to you at the prevailing US Postal Service rates with no additional handling fees or charges.

Buyers outside the US assume sole responsibility to insure that shipment of numismatic material complies with local customs law, and to pay any duties that may be assessed. We will not under any circumstances make false claims on a customs declaration in violation of U.S. law, so don't ask.

Coins may be returned to us for any reason if we are notified of intent to return within 20 calendar days of your receiving the coin. When you notify us of the intent to return a coin, we will provide instructions on sending the coin back. It is your responsibility to pay any costs incurred in making sure the coin is returned to us safely and securely. Coins must be returned in their original condition and holder. When we receive the coin and verify that the terms of the return policy have been met, we will issue a refund. Only the purchase price of the coin or coins will be refunded, not the shipping and handling charges.

Numisphere provides an unlimited guarantee on the authenticity of the numismatic material it sells. By authenticity, we mean that a coin is not a counterfeit, copy, or fake (unless explicitly stated as such in the description) and has not been artificially altered as to date, mintmark, variety, or other feature which can materially affect the value. If a coin is found to be not authentic, the time limits of the above returns policy do not apply, but it is still your responsibility to notify us and to insure that the coin is returned to us safely. We may, at our discretion, insist on a statement from a numismatic professional to corroborate the claim of non-authenticity. Your sole remedy in the case of a claim of non-authenticity or any other claim arising out of a purchase of numismatic material from Numisphere, will be a full refund of the original purchase price. We will not be liable for any other damages, whether incidental, consequential, or otherwise.

Grades on coins listed in our catalog are subjective descriptions that express the opinion of Numisphere. We cannot guarantee that any other numismatic professional or third-party service will concur with that opinion. It is your responsibility to inspect the coin on receipt, determine the appropriateness of our grade and description, and decide whether or not to keep the coin. We will not be obligated to take back any coin that has been slabbed because you are not happy with the grade assigned by the grading service. Except as expressly stated above, Numisphere disclaims all warranties, guarantees and representations in connection with the numismatic material offered for sale, including and without limitation a warranty for merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
